Happy International Badge Day!
Make sure you wear your letters in honor of the holiday and change your profile picture to your respective badges!

1,000 follows! Thank you all so much :)
So, I have to get gifts for all of exec/advisors… Does anyone have any suggestions?
RECRUITMENT IS OVERRRR :)
Out of all three perspectives (going through, recruiting, and Rho Gamma-ing), I have to say that I like being a Rho Gamma was definitely my favorite!
We got 25 new members, INCLUDING 6 from my Rho Gam group!
Love recruitment, but by the end, I was definitely ready for it to be over (shocking!)
Oh yeah… AND I’M REAFFILIATED AGAINNNNNNNNNN!!
Don’t worry — I haven’t forgotten about this blog…
I just wanted to get back in the groove of school.
Oh ya, and we’re in the middle of recruitement :)
I’ll be back soon, though!
I hope recruitment is going great and I want to hear recruitment stories (good or bad)!
Day 5 of Rho Gamma Training…
So, [yesterday] was the last day of Rho Gamma training.
I’m getting very nervous, actually. You can only do so much with scenarios, practices, etc. The real thing is going to be so much different, and I really hope that I won’t do something wrong…
I know all the songs by heart. I love them all! I feel so accomplished having them all down! I think my favorite songs are DG, Theta, AXO, and Pi Phi, but I really do love all of them!
House tours are so much fun! Most of the girls who are giving me tours are doing pretty well, which I love to see. It’s always nice to give feedback, too, since they can only grow with more practice. I went on a tour of my own house and a new recruiter gave me a tour, and I was just so proud!
7 more days until recruitment starts.
17 more days until I’m affiliated again.
Anyway, long story short: I CANT WAIT FOR RECRUITMENT.
Day 4 of Rho Gamma Training…
I know 8/10 songs by heart now! And, I can even sing the really fast parts in some of them! There’s just two I don’t know. One is because she just sang it today, and didn’t even give us the words or anything to look at… and the other is because the girl in that chapter didn’t even know her own song… Ya… I should just ask my friend in that house to tell me.
We mostly learned how the voting system works.
AND we got another one of our shirts. It’s a tank top and super cute. LOVE IT!
I went on my first mock house tour today. It was fun! I was the “shy pnm”, which forced them to do most of the talking, which I think is a really good skill to have. They were pretty good, but I did end up having some pointers.
Kind of a boring day today… Lots of just sitting and listening. Tomorrow is the last day of training before PR stuff and the actual thing. Gets me kind of nervous, actually.
I FREAKING LOVE RECRUITMENT.
Day 3 of Rho Gamma Training…
Day 3 was another success!
Only one Ice Breaker today! YAYYY!
We have learned all the other songs today! Not gonna lie — there are a few I had A LOT of problems with! A little too fast for me… But then I realized how much trouble I was having with my own songs when I was a sophomore, so I think practice will help. Honestly, a few of the songs I like better than my own songs **singing songs inside head**
I just have to say I LOOOOOVE my Rho Gamma group!! We practiced our roles and we were the only group that had come up with a strategy over just doing our jobs… Ya. That’s how cool we are.
I, once again, won candy for knowing the colors of sororities. I feel so proud :)
Tomorrow, I get to go to mock house tours. I decided upon going to one of the houses that I haven’t seen the inside before. Honestly, I am very excited to see it. It looks BEAUTIFUL from the outside. Although I hate to say it, it is my chapter’s rival chapter on campus. We are next-door neighbors, and not everyone in our chapters are panhellenic people.
Last night was tough. I was hanging out with some of my sisters, and we all wanted to get some ice cream… I obviously let everyone go, but it was sad to see them leave without me. I find this part very hard. It has been even harder than I had ever thought it would be.
PLUS, all my sweatshirts say my letters, so it’s very hard to find a clothes to wear in the cold building.
I don’t know what else to say for the day, except that as recruitment gets closer, I get more and more excited.
Wish me luck with DAY 4!
And good luck to all the rest of the chapters practicing for recruitment!
When does everyone go back?
It’s almost recruitment time!
When does everyone move back?
When do recruitment workshops start?
How many of followers are recruitment guides?
I LOVE RECRUITMENT (if you couldn’t tell…)
one last thought on my rant earlier…
It’s a FRATERNITY, not a “frat”.
It’s a SORORITY, not a “soror”.
If you think about it, do you call a country, a “count”?
I thought not.
Each individual sorority is called a “chapter”, not a “house”.
Don’t be disrespectful.
Especially since Greeks are so proud to be Greek.
A Little Rant…
I hate it when people stereotype sororities, fraternities, and Greek life.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I go out every night and get wasted.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean all I care about is having a boyfriend.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I don’t care about school.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I can’t find friends on my own, so I have to “buy them”.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I haze pledges.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I am stick thin, have eating disorders, or judge other people on their weight.
In fact, my experience has been completely different.
I never went out, and my sisters didn’t pressure me to go out. I didn’t even have a drink until my 21st birthday, and this definitely made my 21st more special, since I got to spend it with my sisters.
My sisters have proven to me that I can be a strong, confident woman without having a boyfriend.
Scholarship is one of our highest aims. In fact, they push me to work harder. We have to have at least a 3.0 to be a member in good standing, and a 3.33 to be an officer. If I didn’t want to be an officer, I may not have pushed myself to get that B+ average (although, I’d like to think I would…)
Yes, to be a member of my sorority, there are dues. But, it isn’t really to “buy friends”. Most of the money goes to nationals and panhellenic, not even to my specific chapter. I would pay $0, I would pay $1000000. I don’t care, these women mean so much to me.
I was never hazed. My sisters were never hazed. And I will never haze any future sisters. Think about it — the founders of the sorority… Were they hazed? I don’t think so, and so neither am I. Besides, they are NEW MEMBERS, not pledges.
My sorority is filled with a variety of different girls. We are proud of ourselves for who we are, and we do not judge others for who they are. We are so excited that we get to meet a diverse group of women going through recruitment.
Being a member of my sorority is the best thing I have ever done. I have become a better person because of it. And, if you ever, EVER judge me about it, it will be the last time I will talk to you.
Sorry for my rant. Every once in a while, I will see someone post something that judges sororities, and it drives me insane.
