How is recruitment going?
For those of you who have not yet started recruitment training yet, have fun!
For those of you who have been recruitment training, I hope your voices aren’t gone!
For those of you who are Rho Gammas, Rho Alphas, or Rho Chis, I hope you’re surviving disaffiliation!
For those of you who are currently recruiting, good luck!
For those of you who have already had bid day, congratulations!
I would love to hear recruitment stories!
Who got total? Who made quorum?
A Little Rant…
I hate it when people stereotype sororities, fraternities, and Greek life.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I go out every night and get wasted.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean all I care about is having a boyfriend.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I don’t care about school.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I can’t find friends on my own, so I have to “buy them”.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I haze pledges.
Being in a sorority doesn’t mean I am stick thin, have eating disorders, or judge other people on their weight.
In fact, my experience has been completely different.
I never went out, and my sisters didn’t pressure me to go out. I didn’t even have a drink until my 21st birthday, and this definitely made my 21st more special, since I got to spend it with my sisters.
My sisters have proven to me that I can be a strong, confident woman without having a boyfriend.
Scholarship is one of our highest aims. In fact, they push me to work harder. We have to have at least a 3.0 to be a member in good standing, and a 3.33 to be an officer. If I didn’t want to be an officer, I may not have pushed myself to get that B+ average (although, I’d like to think I would…)
Yes, to be a member of my sorority, there are dues. But, it isn’t really to “buy friends”. Most of the money goes to nationals and panhellenic, not even to my specific chapter. I would pay $0, I would pay $1000000. I don’t care, these women mean so much to me.
I was never hazed. My sisters were never hazed. And I will never haze any future sisters. Think about it — the founders of the sorority… Were they hazed? I don’t think so, and so neither am I. Besides, they are NEW MEMBERS, not pledges.
My sorority is filled with a variety of different girls. We are proud of ourselves for who we are, and we do not judge others for who they are. We are so excited that we get to meet a diverse group of women going through recruitment.
Being a member of my sorority is the best thing I have ever done. I have become a better person because of it. And, if you ever, EVER judge me about it, it will be the last time I will talk to you.
Sorry for my rant. Every once in a while, I will see someone post something that judges sororities, and it drives me insane.
Hey! A few quick notes.
So, every once in a while I will see someone reblog a graphic (which I am totally in love with!) and they will put a quote like “we’re the best, better than the rest” (ok, lame example, but you get the idea)
I am so excited that you love your chapter so much! I know that I would not me the woman I am today without my sisters and my letters. (I even expressed in an earlier post how much it is killing me to not wear my letters). I attended our biannual convention as a sophomore. I became our vice-president as a junior. I know how important it is to be proud of your letters and want to show the world how much you love your chapter.
On the other hand, I am a VERY panhellenic person, and it makes me very upset to see someone put other chapters down. I don’t think for one second that my chapter is better than any other chapter. I think my chapter is best for me, which is one of the great things about having 26 Panhellenic sororities, along with professional and multicultural sororities that young women can join.
I am requesting that you don’t write things that that on letters if you reblog. I know it sounds silly, and I want you to be proud of your letters, but I feel that is the wrong way to go about doing it.
With all that being said, I have 477 follows now! So proud of all my panhellenic followers :D

Panhellenic in order!

All the Panhellenic Sororities in order they were established.
A lot of them have similar colors… It makes me wonder if one had branched off from a different chapter. If anyone knows, please tell me!
